 Windows 7 sample rate issue
Hi I have a question related to 1616M PCI and Windows 7. For example, when i choose 48khz sample rate in this window: and if 44.1khz is choosen in Patchmix, then media player (or any other player) shows this error message: I wonder if this is normal. As i remember i didn't encounter this problem on my previous Windows 7 (i formatted). And could someone please explain me the sample rate and bit depth settings in wondows 7? What sample rate and bit depth should i choose in which case? Thanks

Re: Windows 7 sample rate issue
Windows 7 shall remain a "mystery" to me for at least another year or more, but in the meantime, remember that the EMU DAS devices (which is the 0404, 1212, 1616 & 1820 PCI(e) devices) to not do SRC, or "on-the-fly" frequency changes (specifically - kill Windows Sounds). When you change the rate, it should be done in Patchmix also, and the rates should match in all apps, else you're asking for trouble. Now, a change from 44.1 to 48 or vice versa should NOT cause an issue like that. At least, in WinXP it usually doesn't, but who completely knows about Win7 yet?

Re: Windows 7 sample rate issue
An annoying problem.
Attempting to move all to 48k. But just wierd auto-resettings.
After I installed Dragon Natural speaking I had this problem and found that whenever I click the mic on button for dragon, w7 disables the wave recording function.
Took way to long to figger this. So I have the w7 audio dialog open to click the button to enable.
Stupid but true.
Just another w7 annoyance to group with the windows explorer crap, and the non-auto detecting of monitors.

Re: Windows 7 sample rate issue
Sample rate selection works differently in Windows Vista and Windows 7 then it does on Windows XP. Users may need to manually select sample rate in both PatchMix and in Windows Vista & Windows 7.
If the sample rate in PatchMix and Windows 7 does not match the audio source you wil get garbled audio or no audio at all. That is just how digital audio works. In Windows XP there was on the fly sample rate conversion as part of the media players CoDec.
To manually set sample rate, first close your media player and set PatchMix to the desired sample rate.
Then: Right click the speaker icon Select Playback Devices Click the E-MU Product Select Properties Select sample rate on the Advanced Tab Click Apply and then click Ok.
We are finding that most of the time you do not have to manually select the sample rate in Windows 7 as it will be set when you select the sample rate in PatchMix.
Note that as of today E-MU USB audio products work differently and usually require manual sample rate selection.

Re: Windows 7 sample rate issue
Thank you for your help.
I will test again. But, for me the sample rate in w7 did not change when changing in patchmix. It took way too much time to figger it.
The Dragon mic on, muting windows recording, thing is because I have to use wav device in Dragon.
I have an 0404 usb and 16 bits is the only choice for in and out, Vista business. Annoying but true.
And so on
